Day 2

This morning began early for Shannon. I am often an early riser, so I snuck out onto the balcony and read for a couple hours in the peace and quite –though, it’s pretty peaceful throughout the day in its entirety, but that’s neither here nor there. The water was still and the sun rise was breathtaking. It was a perfect morning to a perfectly relaxing day.

After breakfast, we went to the activities desk and booked a few excursions. A significant amount of our day was spent feeding fish, soaking up the sun, and swimming around our villa. We jumped off the swim step; Scott of course broke the rules and jumped from the second story. EEK!

Soon, we found ourselves at the bar for some very appropriate island beverages and some grub. As you can imagine, this was exhausting and we needed to rest up before we could go on. So naturally, we went to a cabana on the white sand beach and lounged there for a bit. Which lead to our next mini adventure, the coconut crush…

We captured this task on video, so you'll need to view it for the full effect; however, I’ll do my best to outline the experience. One of the Hilton Beach Boys (cabana staff) stopped us as we were walking towards the pool. He threw a coconut at Scott and asked him to open it up. Scott soon found himself with a few other guys atop a little rock platform, banging a coconut on a large pointed stick. This act kinda resembled the behavior of a monkey. After a few minutes, Scott had the outside layer pealed off and was now tasked with splitting the shell. He struck the shell with a rock a couple times and BAM, he did it! Because of this great success, we were given a little doughnut hole (yes, a doughnut hole?!) and we could now enjoy the fresh coconut milk. GOOD times!

Now, we find ourselves back at the bungalow, getting ready for a nice dinner at the fancy restaurant on the property.
