Day 1

OK, so we landed in Tahiti at around 5:00 AM local time and were serenaded by a wonderful island dancer and her back up band on the ukuleles. It was terrific. Soon thereafter, we got leid. Also terrific! While I am typing this lil blurb, we are currently awaiting our island hopper to Bora Bora (prob won’t be able to post til we get there). We met a nice couple from Dallas, also on their honeymoon. There seem to be a lot of these honeymooning folk around here. SO far, so good…

TIP for travelers: a word about carry on luggage, make certain that the size of the bag (not just the weight) is in accordance with the airlines specifications. DUH! $43 later, lesson learned.

Upon our arrival to the beautiful Island of Bora Bora, not only did we get leid for a second time, but also we were immediately struck with the beauty of our environment. It is like a screen saver. BEAU-tiful. While on board the ferry to the hotel, we met a few couples, traveling on their honeymoon. Once at the hotel, we were given a brief orientation to the hotel and the amenimities. This place is so super cool.

Since we had a few hours to spend exploring, prior to Check-in, we walked the property and hung out in a hammock for a bit. Soon thereafter we decided to hop back on the ferry to Vitape to explore the mainland. It was there we made friends with a local, Evan, who gave us a ride to Bloody Mary’s, a touristy restaurant.

Bloody Mary’s was cool. We quickly made friends with another couple from San Fran (they were not on their honeymoon, they were a few years into their marriage). The four of us had (you guessed it!) Bloody Maries at the bar. Not too shabby. We were then escorted to our table where we dined on some decent food: ahi sashimi and a sautéed mushroom burger. Something very important to note, it was at Bloody Mary’s where I saw Guinness’ polar opposite. They had this BIG fat fluffy stark white cat crusin’ around the Bar, like she owned the place. It was comical. All in all, we give the Bloody Mary’s two thumbs up, it’s a good time.

TIP for travelers: go to Bloody Mary’s, its pretty much the only restaurant around. It’s good. The people are nice. And remember, no tax and no tipping. SWEET!

After Bloody Mary’s we went to the grocery store to get a few other snacks and things to keep in our villa. Our next adventure brought us back to the hotel. It was at this point that we were able to check into our Overwater Villa. AH-mazing! It’s spacious with a living room, bedroom, gigantic bathroom, two tiered balcony / swim platform with an outside shower, and there are multiple glass bottom areas throughout the villa. While lounging out on the balcony, there was a knock at the door. It was a host, bringing us a bottle of champagne, compliments of the general manager, thanking us for choosing their property. The place is total luxury, 5 start all the way.

TIP for travelers: if you pack light on the clothes, you can back up some extra nicities such as booze, rafts for floating, snorkel gear, snacks, etc. ALL of which can save you $$$

We’ve spent the afternoon, feeding fish, gazing out at the beauty that is our view for the next several days, and relaxing. Soon, we will shower and head off to eat some dinner.

This one is for you, HARRY

Rest assure family and friends we’ve arrived safely (and in style I might add) and we will have an excellent time, FOR SURE. It’s a dream honeymoon, flowing our dream wedding :)
